Have you always wanted braces but you were never able to get them as a child? Maybe you did get braces but you neglected your retainer so your teeth are misaligned again.

More and more adults are making the responsible choice to straighten their teeth. But, is it worth all of the wires? Braces can last for a few years and that’s a long time when you’re an adult who wants to maintain their image.

If all of this sounds like you, we’ve got you covered. Invisalign in San Diego might be the right choice for you. These clear aligners fit over your teeth and appear to be almost invisible. You can eat, drink, and take care of your teeth as normal with no wires in the way.

Best of all, it’s faster and often less expensive than traditional braces.

Here’s how your Invisalign appointments will go.

Your Consultation

When you’re first inquiring about Invisalign, Dr. Eshom will help you out with a free consultation. This isn’t a commitment, just a way for us to gauge if you’re ready for treatment and determine the best option for you.

During this consultation, you’ll be given a full examination and a scan so that the doctor can get a good view of your teeth. Then, Dr. Eshom will go over your treatment options and discuss whether or not your desired smile is feasible with Invisalign clear aligners.

Dr. Eshom may suggest that you do some work on your teeth before you get started, such as filling any cavities or even getting teeth pulled or shaved that may hinder treatment.

Dr. Eshom will give you an estimate of the time and cost of treatment so that you’re able to make an informed decision and discuss your payment options if you choose to move forward.

Given COVID precautions, you may be able to do your consultation via Zoom from the comfort of your own home.

Future Appointments and Next Steps

If you decide to move forward with your Invisalign treatment after discussing your treatment plan and finances with Dr. Eshom, you’ll begin your journey toward straighter and healthier teeth.

Your First Appointment

The first official appointment may be contained within the consultation depending on your situation. If you immediately decide to pursue treatment you may be able to begin on the same day, saving you another visit.

Dr. Eshom will take a scan of your teeth or perform a mold. This will be sent to Invisalign manufacturers to create your customized invisible aligners.

Receiving Your Aligners

Your first set of aligners will be sent straight to Dr. Eshom in time for your next appointment. Dr. Eshom will ensure that the aligners fit correctly on your teeth and that there are no errors. If anything is wrong, this makes it easy for Dr. Eshom to send them back for any changes.

You’ll wear these aligners for 2 weeks before changing them.

After this initial set, you’ll have packs of aligners given to you so that you can change them on your own at home. Each aligner will have a set amount of time that you’ll have to wear them.

You’ll see Dr. Eshom every 6 to 10 weeks on average while your treatment is going on. They’ll give you a full examination and determine whether or not your teeth are tracking correctly. They’ll also apply any needed attachments or “buttons”.

Can All Conditions be Treated With Invisalign?

Most orthodontic conditions can be treated with Invisalign. If you have common conditions like:

  • Overbite
  • Underbite
  • Crossbite
  • Crowding
  • Spacing

Invisalign might be for you. The only variables will be cost and treatment time.

That said, Invisalign is still limited and there may be situations in which a dental professional suggests other avenues of treatment. If you have a severe condition, traditional braces may be more successful.

You won’t know if your situation is a good fit for Invisalign until you book your free consultation.

Why Invisalign?

There’s no right or wrong answer when it comes to choosing a type of orthodontia. That said, Invisalign is the perfect choice for people who are getting braces later in life (and even some teens).

These aligners are virtually invisible. They fit tight to your teeth and are undetectable in photos or from a distance. Even up close, if someone doesn’t know that you have them in they may never suspect a difference.

You have to wear them for 22 hours per day. This means that you can take them out when you’re going to dinner or drinking your morning coffee and then be ready to continue with your day after you brush your teeth.

There are fewer check-ins with Invisalign due to the ease of use. Invisalign aligners are also easier to clean than traditional braces.

Invisalign, on average, takes less time to complete than traditional braces. While orthodontic work is improving every day, metal braces often take years of commitment. Invisalign can take as little as 6 months, sometimes less for express cases (though some patients may need to wear them for over a year).

With financing, they’re even cost-effective.

Invisalign is the obvious choice for adults looking to straighten their smiles quickly and discreetly.
